Referee Training Course Information for Outdoor Soccer 2012Are you interested in becoming a soccer referee this year? Refereeing will offer you the opportunity to develop life skills, establish self confidence, keep you fit, and enjoy the outdoors. And, you actually get paid for each game you referee! Make sure you sign up for, and attend one of these information sessions, and ALSO contact referees@norwestsoccer.org in order to referee games for Norwest Soccer! There are a couple of options this year for house league referee training: Norwest will offer two in-community referee information sessions (for residents of Scenic Acres and Silver Springs): Refereeing Basics (U10 Clinic)April 28, 2012 10:00am - 11:30am Silver Springs Community Centre Cost: $45 - includes a ref kit, whistle, and referee jersey. 100% of the fee will be refunded once you have refereed three community games and you have attended the training. This introductory workshop for first time referees is geared towards learning the beginner concepts of refereeing. We will review referee requirements and rules based on the FIFA soccer laws. After completing this session, you will be eligible to ref Norwest’s U10 House League games. You must be at least 12 years of age (born in 2000 or later) to register. This is NOT a certified training course from the Alberta Soccer Association. Fundamentals of Refereeing for 11 Aside Soccer (U12 and older Clinic)April 28, 2012 12:00pm - 1:30pm Includes a pizza and pop lunch ! Silver Springs Community Centre Cost: $55 – includes a ref kit, whistle, and referee jersey. 100% of the fee will be refunded after you have attended the referee workshop and you have refereed three community games. This workshop will provide a review of referee requirements and rules based on FIFA soccer laws, including fouls and offsides. It is geared towards refereeing U12, U14, and U16/18 House League games. This course is suitable for returning referees who want a refresher, or new referees who are eligible to ref the older age groups. This is NOT a certified training course from the Alberta Soccer Association. To register for either class, please call the Silver Springs Community Association at 403-288-2616.
